Minnesota-made custom art
The Maker Behind the Maps
Thoughtful design, hands-on craftsmanship, and a genuine love for meaningful custom work.
Hi, I’m Allison.
I’m the founder and creative force behind Laser Lake Maps. For more than 25 years, my work has brought together graphic design, marketing, business management, custom production, and hands-on craftsmanship.
My background began in print and graphic design, where precision, balance, color, and careful file preparation were essential. Over the years, that experience expanded into website design, branding, large-format printing, computerized mat cutting, laser engraving, custom framing, and dimensional display work. I have also managed the operational side of creative businesses—from customer communication, estimates, budgeting, and material purchasing to production scheduling, quality review, and final delivery.
For more than a decade, I owned and operated a custom framing and creative production company. During that time, I collaborated with customers, businesses, collectors, sports organizations, and public venues to create meaningful, one-of-a-kind presentations. My work has included custom-framed jerseys, signed sports and music memorabilia, military and career displays, shadowboxes, acrylic display cases, laser-engraved pieces, commercial installations, and large collections created for prominent Minnesota venues.
That experience taught me that exceptional custom work is about more than making something beautiful. It requires listening carefully, understanding what matters to the customer, protecting valuable and irreplaceable items, communicating clearly, and paying attention to every detail from the initial concept through the finished piece.
Laser Lake Maps brings all of those skills together. Each map combines careful research, graphic design, precision-cut layers, thoughtfully selected colors, engraving, assembly, and hand finishing. Customers are guided through the design process and have the opportunity to personalize their map with names, dates, coordinates, meaningful locations, messages, and other details that make the finished piece uniquely theirs.
Whether I am creating a favorite fishing lake, a family cabin map, a personalized gift, or a display for a resort or business, I approach every project with the same goal: to create something meaningful, well-crafted, and worthy of the memories connected to it.
Your lake is more than a place on a map. It is part of your story—and I would be honored to help preserve it in wood.
Hi, I’m Allison.
Laser Lake Maps grew from my love of creating, design, woodworking, and projects that carry a personal story. I bring together graphic design, production experience, laser technology, and hands-on finishing to create dimensional maps that feel at home in the places they represent.
I believe custom work should feel personal from the first conversation through the final detail. Every lake has its own shape. Every customer has different memories attached to it. The finished piece should reflect both.
My approach is backed by more than 25 years of experience across marketing, graphic design, business management, and production. My background includes developing print and web graphics, preparing detailed production files, refining layouts for accuracy, and coordinating projects from the first concept through final output. I work hands-on with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, laser engraving systems, and large-format printing and production equipment, giving me a practical understanding of how strong design translates into a well-made finished piece.
As a CEO, I have managed custom projects from the first conversation and initial concept through design, materials, production, quality review, and final delivery. I understand how to coordinate design decisions, materials, equipment, timelines, quality control, and customer communication. That experience helps me balance creativity with precision, dependable follow-through, and attention to the details that make each Laser Lake Map personal.
